MWBA - Maritime Womens Basketball Association

MWBA Attracting Interest From Canada, International Locations

The list of players looking to join the Maritime Women’s Basketball Association continues to grow.

Based on the MWBA’s official player registration portal, there are 115 names on the list the six franchises can contact to see if they are interested in playing for either the Winsor Edge, Halifax Hornets, Halifax Thunder, Fredericton Freeze, Moncton Mystics or Port City Fog of Saint John.

Players have registered from the Maritimes, across the country, United States, Czech Republic and Pakistan.

‘It has been remarkably encouraging to see so many players reach out to us and with 115 registered, we know there are more waiting for training camps,’ said MWBA commissioner, Tasia McKenna. ‘There is a real opportunity to continue playing at a high level and the response has certainly backed that up.’

All franchises are free to contact registered players, who do have an opportunity to select which franchises interests them based on geography.

Most international players have included all six teams and are willing to have an adventure in our region for the 12-game regular season and playoffs that kicks off next April.

You can find the  player registration tab on the website’s home page.
