Fog Coaching Staff Comes With Plenty of Experience

The Port City Fog is going to be loaded with veteran coaching experience as it prepares for the inaugural Maritime Women’s Basketball Association season in April of 2022.

All three coaches know their way around a basketball court and have extensive Basketball New Brunswick and university-level experience.

Franchise owner Jillian Wilton, who coaches at the interscholastic girls’ AAA level with the Saint John High Greyhounds, announced Madeline Belding, Shannon Fraser and Ryan Daye as the Fog’s coaching staff.

Belding is presently an assistant coach with the University of Windsor Lancers of USPORT Ontario University Athletics. Prior to landing in Windsor, the Sussex native was an assistant with the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds’ women’s team.

She has coached with BNB, Basketball British Columbia and Basketball Ontario at various Canada Basketball age group championship levels.

Madeline Belding, a native of Sussex, New Brunswick, is heading into her 5th year as an assistant coach with the University of Windsor Lancers Women’s Basketball Team.

Fraser comes to the Fog with extensive New Brunswick Interscholastic Athletic Association experience, guiding perennial AA powerhouse Rothesay High Redhawks. She also has a long background coaching at the youth level with Kennebecasis Valley Basketball Association.

Daye is the long-time head coach of St. George’s Fundy High Mariners’ program, one of the top AA programs in the province.

He has coached against Fraser numerous times with the Fundy and Rothesay rivalry.

Daye has also guided a number of BNB teams to age-class nationals.
