Fog Collects Road Triumph

Port City Fog of Saint John burst into the win column Tuesday.

And it came on the road in hostile territory.

After falling behind at the half, 37-36, to the host Moncton Mystics, the Fog erupted in the second half, scoring 45 points and pulling out an 81-66 Maritime Women’s Basketball Association victory.

The game spoiled Moncton’s home opener at Harrison Trimble High School in front of a big crowd of almost 460.

Five players hit double figures for Port City, paced by Rachel Farwell’s 19 point outburst. Kaylee Kilpatrick pumped 15 and provided a physical presence. Reese Baxendale sunk a dozen, Emily Briggs knocked down 11 and Bailey Henderson scored 10.

Jenna Jones continued to lead Moncton’s offence, popping 22 points. Kelsey McLaughlin scored 14 and Abby Miller had 11.

Port City is 1-3 and the Mystics slipped to 1-2.

Meanwhile, there is a battle of undefeated teams ready to tangle Wednesday in Halifax at Mount St. Vincent University.

Halifax Thunder sits 3-0 and comes in as the visitor to face 2-0 Halifax Hornets.

Game time is 7 p.m.
