Mystics Create Intrigue

Moncton Mystics have won two of their last three Maritime Women’s Basketball Association games.

What does that mean?

Plenty.

It means the Mystics and Fredericton Freeze will do down to the wire Sunday for the chance to be the top New Brunswick team and earn a coveted bye into the league’s Legacy Cup semifinals June 24 to 26 in Halifax.

Moncton pulled out a 75-74 win over visiting Fredericton on Thursday night to close the gap in the standings.

Fredericton holds the hammer with a 3-6 record and six points entering Sunday’s suddenly huge 2 p.m. game against Moncton.

The game will be played at Leo Hayes High School.

Mystics will enter at 2-6, but would hold the tie-breaker if they can pull out a road win and finish tied with Fredericton at 3-6.
