MWBA - Maritime Womens Basketball Association

Thunder Talent Nabs Honours

The Halifax Thunder went a perfect 3-0 last week to jump ahead of the overall standings.

Tiffany Reynolds played a key role in that surge and, for her efforts, has been named the Maritime Women’s Basketball Association player of the week.

Halifax leads the pack with a perfect 4-0 record for eight points, standing alone.

Reynolds amassed over 30 points during three Thunder victories and took on an offensive role in the wake of an injury to high-scoring teammate Karissa Kajorinne.

Her physical play and slashing offensive style is a handful for MWBA defences.

Reynolds is averaging 13.2 points per game.

Other nominees for the Week II award were Kylee Speedy of the Fredericton Freeze, Hannah Brown of Halifax Hornets, MacKenzee Ryan of Port City Fog of Saint John, Nalini Maharaj of Windsor Edge and Lia St. Pierre of the Moncton Mystics.

Play resumes this week with four games on tap, kicking off Thursday in Fredericton when Speedy and the Freeze host St. Pierre and the Mystics at 7:30 p.m. at Fredericton High School.

The Battle of Halifax unfolds Friday at Mount St. Vincent University at 7 p.m. with the Hornets hosting Thunder.

Thunder visits Windsor Saturday at 1 p.m. at Avon View High School and Windsor visits the Hornets at 4 p.m. at Mount St. Vincent.
