Legacy Cup Schedule is Set

This is going to be a battle.

Take that to the bank.

Or at least TD Station.

The ‘Station will be housing all six Maritime Women’s Basketball Association teams Friday through Sunday as pursuit of the Legacy Cup begins to determine who hoists the trophy early Sunday evening.

Port City Fog is the host of championship weekend.

As an added bonus, age class teams from New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island will play this weekend at TD Station as those under-17 and under-15 teams prepare for Canada Basketball championships later in the summer.

The festivities get under way Friday with quarter-final games.

Ball goes in the air at 6 p.m. when the Halifax Hornets face the Moncton Mystics.

Both teams finished with 4-6 records.

Mystics will be the designated home team after winning the regular season head-to-head matchup, a 103-95 overtime thriller.

Port City plays in front of its home fans at 8 p.m. in the other quarter-final against Windsor Edge.

Fog comes in at 5-5 and Edge finished the season 0-10.

Both the Halifax Thunder (10-0) and Fredericton Freeze (7-3) earned first round byes as top team in its respective provinces.

Thunder will play the lowest remaining quarter-final seed while Fredericton gets the highest survivor in Saturday’s semifinals.

Those games will be played Saturday at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Consolation game goes Saturday at 11 a.m.

The bronze medal game is Sunday at 1 p.m. followed by the 3 p.m. championship game.
