Karla Yepez has a winning pedigree.
Dalhousie University Tigers are seeking exactly that.
Yepez, who starred for five seasons with the University of Prince Edward Island Panthers, is turning to coaching, joining Atlantic University Sport rival Dalhousie University Tigers as an assistant coach.
She has a familiar face on head coach Tanya McKay’s staff.
Parker Regan, who guided the Maritime Women’s Basketball Association’s Halifax Thunder to a Legacy Cup title this season, returns for his second season as an assistant coach on McKay’s staff.
Yepez, who arrived in the AUS from Ecuador, was an impact player with the Panthers.
She was a key component to the 2019-20 USPORTS bronze medal winning team.
Yepez appeared in 95 regular season games for UPEO, averaging 7.8 points per game and amassing 251 career assists. She also grabbed 536 rebounds and 71 blocks. She appeared in 11 post-season games with the Panthers.
The six footer was a second team AUS all-star in 2022-23.
The Tigers open their 2023-24 pre-season against St. Francis Xavier University X-Women on Oct. 8.
