Keripe Helps TMU Earn Win

Jessice Keripe scored seven points and earned 18 minutes of floor time to help Toronto Metropolitan University Bold to a 76-65 win over over British Columbia’s University of Victoria Vikes on Friday.

Bold is hosting its own tournament this weekend.

Keripe, who played with the Maritime Women’s Basketball Association’s Port City Fog of Saint John, is in her second year with TMU.

The pre-season weekend continued for many players from the MWBA.

Courtney Donaldson of the Halifax Hornets had 16 points, but her Saint Mary’s University Huskies of Halifax fell 65-56 to Carleton University Ravens of Ottawa. Saint Mary’s plays Allie McCarthy of the Fredericton Freeze and University of Ottawa Gee Gees on Saturday.

Erin Ingalls of the Fog had a monster game for University of New Brunswick Reds, drilling 23 points and hauling down eight rebounds to help lead the way in a 67-60 win over host McGill University Martlets in Montreal. UNB was outscored 33-25 in the second half after bolting into a huge early lead, but hung on down the stretch.

Katie Butts of the Freeze had 17 points and 11 rebounds. Fredericton teammate Kylee Speedy scored 20 and the Freeze’s Jenny Nkuah started and had two rebounds Reese Baxendale of Port City scored four points.

Sydney Foran of Windsor Edge knocked down a three-pointer for McGill.

Emily McMeil of the Edge scored three points and had four rebounds to help Bishop’s University Gaiters of Lennoxville, QU, to a 73-60 triumph over Brock University Badgers of St. Catharines, ON.

Hailey MacLeod of Port City drained 20 points and had four rebounds and two assists as Cape Breton University Capers topped Universite de Quebec of Montreal Citadins, 80-71.

Grace Lancaster of Halifax Thunder popped 15 points and University of Prince Edward Island Panthers hammered University of Winnipeg Wesmen, 76-37.
