MWBA Opens May 4

The third season of the Maritime Women’s Basketball Association will open its doors Saturday, May 4, on three fronts.

It begins that afternoon in Cole Harbour when the reigning Legacy Cup champion Halifax Thunder cross the bridge to play Lake City 56ers.

Game time is 2 p.m. at Cole Harbour High School.

Four hours later, the Fredericton Freeze open at home against Moncton Mystics, a 6 p.m. clash at the Richard J. Currie Center at University of New Brunswick.

Down the highway some 60 minutes, Saint John’s Port City Fog kick off its season, welcoming expansion Miramichi Her-icanes.

That game is set for TD Station in Saint John.

There two games on Sunday, May 5.

One of them is the first-ever home game for Miramichi. It will face Fredericton at 3 p.m. at Miramichi Valley High School.

At the same time in Nova Scotia, Halifax Hornets open their season, greeting the 56ers at Mount St. Vincent University.

The Hornets and Thunder were anticipating opening the season Thursday, May 2, but that was pushed back until May 10.

All games will be livestreamed.
