MWBA - Maritime Womens Basketball Association

New MWBA Vice Commissioner

The Maritime Women’s Basketball Association has a new vice commissioner.

But she’s no stranger to the MWBA.

Saint John’s Lori Wall joined the league last season as its secretary and has now moved into the vice commissioner role with commissioner Jen McKenzie of Dartmouth.

Wall will replace outgoing vice commissioner, Anna Lee LeBlanc, who is with the athletic department at Queen’s University in Kingston, ON.

Her move up the executive ladder means the MWBA will have a secretary vacancy. Treasurer Jeff White of Saint John will also depart after a three-year term, meaning the league is seeking a new financial representative.

Wall retired following a lengthy and impressive career as a teacher and principal in the Saint John region.

The long-time coach, administrator and present-day president of Basketball New Brunswick.

‘It was a tough loss when Anna Lee departed, but with Lori’s knowledge of the MWBA and her versatile background, the role she carries now will be a natural for her,’ said McKenzie. ‘It’s never easy to find someone who understands the lay of the land, the game, the administrative side and so many other intangibles. Lori is comfortable with the game from so many different ends. We’re incredibly happy to have her stay with our organization.’

Wall is certainly familiar with the MWBA.

She has worked with Saint John’s Port City Fog as a game day coordinator and also works the scoring table for off court officials.

Wall also has coached at three Canada Summer Games and has worked professional off court tables for Saint John teams in leagues such as the National Basketball League of Canada.

The MWBA will open its fourth season of play in May, 2024.
