There’s a buzz around the Halifax Hornets.
Mere days after signing prized point guard Aki Kobayashi, the Hornets are in the news again, signing five-foot-eight guard Sara Brazil.
Brazil will make her Maritime Women’s Basketball Association debut in May when the league’s fifth season begins.
‘We’re excited to welcome Sara to our organization for this season,’ said the Hornets in a social media release. ‘We can’t wait to get started in April with training camp.’
Brazil is from Ireland and grew up in Germany.
She played professionally Ireland’s Division I circuit with the Limerick Sports Huskies.
Brazil helped the Huskies during Ireland’s under-20 National Cup and senior national league seasons.
She arrived in the Maritimes for an internship with Basketball Nova Scotia as part of her sports science degree pursuit.
Brazil, who can also match up as a forward, is a shooter, who also brings defensive energy.
