Allie McCarthy and Bailey Russell would much rather be in Quebec City this week.
That would mean they would be attending their second consecutive USPORTS Final 8 women’s basketball championship tournament.
Their University of Ottawa Gee Gees were bounced from the Ontario University Athletics playoffs last month, but McCarthy and Russell had reason to smile for some personal accomplishments this week
McCarthy earned a second team OUA all-star selection and her running mate Russell was named to the third all-star team.
Both were all-stars last spring in the Maritime Women’s Basketball Association with the Fredericton Freeze.
Nicknamed the Splash Sisters for their basket-draining prowess, McCarthy and Russell are expected to suit up once again for Fredericton which will certainly make Freeze and MWBA fans happy.
