Tumwine Returning to Freeze

Eva Tumwine is returning to the Fredericton Freeze.

An original Freeze member, Tumwine will prepare for her fifth season in Fredericton colours.

‘Eva brings a dimension of style to our team that will benefit teammates with her aggressive play under the rims and ability to fight through traffic,’ said Freeze head coach and general manager, Bram Russell. ‘When opponents play against Eva, they know they’re in for a bumpy ride. She will have plenty of options to dish to our outside shooters or pound the ball inside.’

A former University of New Brunswick Reds’ player, Tumwine’s fingerprints are all over the Freeze and the Maritime Women’s Basketball Association,

She is fifth all-time in scoring with 351 points in 33 career games.

Tumwine is coming off her best season in the MWBA in 2025, where she averaged 15.7 points per game.

Lauren Rainford of the Miramichi Her-Icanes is the league’s all-time leading scorer with 419 points.

Tumwine spent five seasons wearing the red and black of UNB from 2015-20. The six-foot forward appeared in 91 Atlantic University Sport games with her hometown Reds, amassing 649 points.

Fredericton opens its fifth MWBA season on Saturday, May 2, visiting Miramichi.
