A familiar face is back in the fold.
Ann Bastien, who made her Maritime Women’s Basketball Association debut two years ago with Fredericton, is back with the Freeze for the 2026 season.
‘We were more than happy when Ann expressed interest in returning to the MWBA and stay here in Fredericton for the season,’ said Freeze head coach and general manager, Bram Russell. ‘She attacks the game, sees her way through traffic and brings an intensity we want our team to follow.’
Bastien has played four seasons for the reigning Atlantic University Sport champion University of New Brunswick Reds.
The Terrebonne, QU, native appeared in all 20 UNB games last season and has played in 65 career AUS games.
Bastien started nine times for the Reds, dished 68 assists, had 29 steals and averaged 6.8 points per game. She averaged just under 30 minutes during UNB’s march to a USPORTS silver medal earlier in March.
