Someone who has zero fear of going into the difficult areas and brings a scoring touch with her is returning to the Fredericton Freeze.
Maheva Ngassam, who played in the Maritime Women’s Basketball Association with Fredericton two seasons ago, marks her return, coming off an outstanding third year with the University of New Brunswick Reds.
The Quebec product was key part of UNB’s run to an Atlantic University Sport championship and eventual USPORTS silver medal.
The Saint Hubet, QU, product started 18 of 20 games with UNB last year, logging a career high 438 minutes. Ngassam averaged 8.2 points per outing and 7.2 rebounds.
‘Maheva brings plenty to the table and we expect that to continue in the MWBA,’ said Freeze head coach and general manager, Bram Russell. ‘She can score for you, can defend with passion and gets to the rim at both ends of the floor for rebound opportunities. It’s been fun watching her career progress with UNB. We look forward to having her personality around our organization.’
The Freeze will hit the court for some spring runs in April before preparing for its season opener in early May.
