Welcome home, Nicole Campbell.
Well, sort of, anyway.
Campbell is the latest signing for the Maritime Women’s Basketball Association’s Fredericton Freeze.
The six-foot-three post finished her second Atlantic University Sport season with Newfoundland’s Memorial University Seahawks in 2025-26 and will join the Freeze, giving the Fredericton squad a presence in the paint.
‘We have watched Nicole develop with Memorial and she is still learning the game at that post position which is not easy for a young player stepping into that highly-competitive environment,’ said Freeze head coach and general manager, Bram Russell, who played the post position when he was at the University of New Brunswick. ‘A young post like her is going to learn with some of the veterans she will battle against in the MWBA. She has the type of personality that is going to soak all of that in.’
Campbell is originally from Scarborough, ON.
Her Fredericton and basketball bloodlines run deep.
Campbell’s father, John, was a USPORTS player and spent 25 years coaching in the AUS and Ontario University Sport.
Her mother, Dianne Norman, is a Fredericton legend, a former Olympian for Canada.
