Freeze Falls to Fog in Port City

Port City Fog erupted for 45 second half points and won a tight battle down the stretch in a topsy-turvy 75-68 win over the visiting Fredericton Freeze on Saturday in Maritime Women’s Basketball Association play.

Fredericton had carried a 34-30 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Port City held a 69-65 lead with 1:47 to play before the Freeze it to one point with 92 seconds to play.

The Fog added some insurance late and moved to 3-2 with the win.

Fredericton slipped to 1-2.

Elissa Bryce and Clancy MacIntyre paced a well-balanced Port City offence with 16 points apiece.

Bailey Russell sparked Fredericton with 26 points and Allie McCarthy added 18.

Both players returned to the lineup after an African excursion with their University of Ottawa Gee Gees’ teammates.

Port City is off Sunday while the Freeze travels to Moncton to face the Mystics at Crandall University.

Game time is 3 p.m.
