The Miramichi HerIcanes snapped a five-game losing streak and are back in the Maritome Women’s Basketball Association win column.
Hometown Miramichi moved to 2-5 on the season Saturday night with a 75-66 win over Truro Tidal Queens in front of an apprecative crowd at Miramichi Valley High School.
Expansion Truro fell to 0-6.
The HerIcanes used a balanced offence to take Truro, but received 16 points from Eden Searles to lead the way. Charlee Connors struck for 13 and Miramichi veteran Kassidy Hamilton had nine.
It was a Truro franchise scoring record for Nykeva Wilson-Brown, who paced all scorers with a game-high 27 points. Courtney Cain-Nordin popped 17 for Truro.
Miramichi remains at home Sunday for a 1 p.m., clash with Halifax Thunder.
Game time is 1 p.m., at Miramichi Valley High School.
Truro moves into Moncton for a 3 p.m., tilt with the Mystics.
That game is set for Crandall University,
