MWBA Showcases Its Home Bases

The Maritime Women’s Basketball Association is an incredibly proud entity.

Proud of what is has accomplished over five seasons of competition, proud of its Maritime roots.

There are eight teams in the MWBA, four in Nova Scotia and four in New Brunswick.

All with distinct characteristics from big city to smaller town.

Doesn’t matter.

Women are playing and playing at a high level and the MWBA wanted to showcase home.

Welcome to the league’s first-ever foray into focused marketing and more is coming.

We. Are. Here.

A simple message, but indeed the MWBA is here.

‘We wanted a blend of showcasing the region we represent, the cities, the towns and our league,’ said MWBA director of partnerships and programs, Anna Lee LeBlanc of Moncton. ‘Our teams and our players represent the Maritimes. Hard-working, smart, dedicated and committed. Our players and our coaches are your neighbours, your children’s teachers, doctors, first responders, friends, family and so much more. We are here. It means so many different things.’

LeBlanc worked on the project with Fredericton-based Jen Morehouse to bring We. Are. Here. to life.

Vibrant colouring and visual recognition were critical in this first stage of a new marketing campaign.

‘We have five years behind us, but we’re still working incredibly hard to become a fabric in our region,’ said LeBlanc. ‘We run a shoulder season from April through June and we are watching our incredible women in sport do their thing off the court. They realize there is a committed group behind them from team representatives to our executive and our valuable financial partners. We are pushing for more and there is more to come.’

The MWBA will be working with Fredericton-based TRL Solutions on a new digital marketing campaign. TRL Solutions has been with the MWBA since its 2022 inception.

The first reveal is the MWBA’s Halifax Hornets.

The Hornets are original member of the league, launched in 2022 under the direction of Mark Forward and Janice King.

The organization is the league’s first-ever PROLINE Legacy Cup champion that inaugural season. It has two third place finishes in playoff action over five seasons and has produced some of the league’s top talent.
