Good Robot Brewing Joins MWBA

Two homegrown success stories are creating a partnership.

Preparing to enter its sixth season of competition next spring, the Maritime Women’s Basketball Association is pleased to announce its latest partnership, joining forces with Halifax-based Good Robot Brewing Co., for the 2027 season.

‘It’s an amazing feeling to have such a rapidly growing and community-minded business such as Good Robot Brewing to join our league and continue our growth and recognition as a dynamic league for women in sport,’ said MWBA Director of Partnerships and Programs, Anna Lee LeBlanc of Moncton. ‘Having Good Robot Brewing as the official brewery of the MWBA is another remarkable example of its commitment to quality programming and events. We couldn’t be happier.’

Good Robot, which opened its doors in 2015 in the historic North End of Nova Scotia’s dynamic capital city, has built a reputation for quality products and has not lost is mission of ‘making great drinks and creating spaces where folks actually want to hang out.’

The brewery will be showcased in a number of ways with the MWBA and its eight-member teams.

Good Robot will be the league’s official brewing partner and branding partner of the league’s two divisions.

Welcome to the Good Robot Nova Scotia Division and Good Robot New Brunswick Division.

The Bluenose teams competing are reigning champion Halifax Thunder, Halifax Hornets, Lake City 56ers of Dartmouth/Cole Harbour/Preston and Truro Tidal Queens. The Picture Province boasts Port City Fog of Saint John, Moncton Mystics, Miramichi HerIcanes and Fredericton Freeze.

Diablo Mexican Lager is a light, crisp Mexican lager with a zing of lime zest and jalapenos, that is not spicy. The product is Good Robot’s top seller and an award-winning craft beer and the brand will appear prominently in the partnership with the MWBA.

Good Robot will partner with the league to create divisional Player of the Week award winners and will also be featured under the league’s new What’s On Tap feature for upcoming games.

The brewery has certainly made its mark in Nova Scotia and is now finding success across the Maritimes which makes the MWBA relationship a regional collaboration.

‘We love what the MWBA has been doing for the past five years and where it brings so much regional rivalries, exposure to a high-level brand of basketball and a strong fanbase, it made sense for Good Robot to be involved,’ said Sean Reardon, Good Robot’s Atlantic Canadian Sales Manager. ‘We certainly enjoy helping community-minded organizations and being able to combine our products with an outstanding brand of basketball is a win-win situation. We look forward to being involved.’

Good Robot has been voted Halifax’s best craft brewery six times by the Coast Readers’ Choice Awards.

Good beer. Good spaces. Good people. Good Robot.

Good for the MWBA.

‘We are seeing more companies become involved with the MWBA, but we also know there is plenty of more work to be done to create even more awareness of the power of our league,’ said LeBlanc. ‘We are built on creating a community atmosphere and attracting a tremendous following with growth to continue improving on and off the court. We know our players on the court have showcased exceptional skill and competitiveness. We are doing the same off the court to support our women.’
