Big win, big game.
Jenna Jones has done everything in her power to keep the Moncton Mystics’ offence in motion this Maritime Women’s Basketball Association.
She certainly played a massive role in helping provide Moncton with its first win of the season.
For her efforts, the former University of Prince Edward Island Panther, has been named MWBA player of the week.
Jones drilled 25 points in Moncton’s dramatic 70-67 win over Windsor Edge in front of the hometown faithful last weekend.
The Mystics actually trailed 21-4 after a quarter in that game and Jones was held scoreless before posting eight points in the second quarter. She went off in the second half with a 17-point outburst and finished with five-three pointers. Jones would add nine more in Moncton’s setback to Halifax Hornets.
Other nominations for the award included Hornets’ Jaylnn Skier, Katherine Quackenbush of Halifax Hornets, Anna von Maltzahn of Windsor, Eva Tumwine of the Fredericton Freeze and Rachel Farwell of Port City Fog of Saint John.
A three-member independent panel selects the MWBA player of the week.
