Who Leads the ‘Canes?

The Miramichi Her-icanes are definitely a Maritime Women’s Basketball Association success story.

Spawned two years ago, the Her-Icanes became a smash hit on Miramichi and in its second year of operation, the program reached the summit, earning the PRO•LINE Legacy Cup championship in June, earning a thrilling overtime win against the Lake City 56ers of Dartmouth/Cole Harbour/Preston.

What has made the Her-icanes tick?

Well, Lauren Rainford is a good place to start.

The outstanding point guard was the MWBA MVP in 2024 and is a two-time first team all-star.

Rainford is also the all-time leading scorer in the league which means, yes, she is No. 1 overall with Miramichi when it comes to production as we cap a look at all seven teams and their offensive talents.

Rainford has earned 419 career points in 20 games, not missing an outing with Miramichi. He average of 20.9 points a game is also a franchise high.

Devon Lawlor sits second in scoring with 175 and Abby Miller is third with 154.

Grace Lancaster, who earned the Royale MVP in the final game, is fourth with 126 and Aiden Rainford is fifth at 106.

Bailey Black checks in at No. 6 with 98 points and seventh is Katie Donahoe with her 83. Bailey Henderson is eighth with 64, Sydney Lawlor ninth with 48 and Kassidy Hamilton rounds out the top 10 with 47.
