Lake City Survives Wild Outing

The scoreboard lights were working overtime.
So were the shooters.
In the opening Maritime Women’s Basketball Association game, hometown Lake City 56ers outlasted Moncton Mystics, 102-96, in one of the league’s highest scoring games in its five-year history.
Lake City dropped a remarkable 24 three-pointers.
Julia Black paced the 56ers with 26 points. Evie Hargraves scored 18, Olive Logan 14, and Emily MacNeil 13. Lauren Armstrong added 10.
Maddie Eustace was red-hot for Moncton, knocking down a game-high 27 points. Eve Kalala popped 17, and Sadie Bowen added 15.
Lake City is home tomorrow, welcoming Halifax Thunder at 3 p.m. at Cole Harbour High School.
Moncton caps its Nova Scotia swing with a 2:30 p.m. start against the Halifax Hornets at Mount St. Vincent University.
