Fredericton Freeze needed a win Thursday night.
It got what it wanted.
Fredericton had six players reach double figures in offence and pulled away early, eclipsing the century mark for the first time in team history with a 105-78 win over visiting Moncton Mystics in Maritime Women’s Basketball Association play.
The Freeze sits 4-4 with the win. Mystics fell to 6-3.
Eva Tumwine paced all players with a game-high 25 points to spark Fredericton. Allie McCarthy knocked down 19 and Paige LeBlanc scored 15. Bailey Russell hit for 14, Kristen Taylor a dozen and Maheva Ngassam scored 10.
Both Tumwine and McCarthy joined the MWBA’s 400-point club.
Rookie sensation Maddie Eustace paced Moncton with 20 points. Jesse McCarron and Lindsay Black struck for 11 apiece.
Fredericton hits the road Saturday to play Halifax Thunder and wraps its regular season Sunday in Truro against the Tidal Queens.
Moncton will visit Miramichi HerIcanes Saturday to finish its regular season, hoping to earn its first New Brunswick Division crown.
