The Halifax Hornets and Moncton Mystics sure as heck did not mail that one in.
Both teams battled hard in an emotional
PRO·LINE Legacy Cup consolation outing at the Richard J. Currie Center in Fredericton on Sunday.
Halifax emerged triumphant in the back-and-forth outing, pulling away late for an eventual 73-65 win.
Ella Hoyt had herself a game with 20 points as the rookie paced Hornet scoring. Aki Kobayashi scored 15 after being shaken up early in the contest. Samantha Russell dropped 14.
Another rookie shone for Moncton as Jesse McCarron paced all scorers with a 23-point outing. Maddie Eustace, the league’s regular season scoring champion, had 14 and veteran Jenna Jones popped a dozen.
