Fredericton Freeze put on an offensive show for the hometown fans last night.
The Freeze pushed its Maritime Women’s Basketball Association record to 2-1 with a 93-69 win over the Halifax Hornets to cap Saturday’s opening day action.
Halifax fell to 1-2.
Katie Butts had 20 points to spark Fredericton in the physical encounter. Katie McAffee scored 19, Kylee Speedy 14 and Eva Tumwine a dozen.
Hannah Brown pounded home 26 points for the Hornets. Sophia Widmeyer and Jasmine Parent had nine apiece.
Fredericton faces Halifax Thunder on Sunday at 3 p.m. The Hornets will face Moncton Mystics at 1 p.m.
All games are at Bliss Carman School.
