The Moncton Mystics continued to haunt teams offensively in the Maritime Women’s Basketball Association.
Moncton blew a 14-point second half lead, but hung on to defeat the Halifax Hornets, 103-95 in overtime, a wild fourth quarter and extra session,
Hannah Brown scored four key points down the stretch to keep the Hornets hopes alive, part of some late scoring to send the game into OT, but the Mytics shook it off and dominated when it counted.
It was the second overtime game in five days for Moncton which lost at home to Port City Fog of Saint John last week, a 98-95 thriller.
The Mystics are now 2-1.
Leonie Elbert powered the Mystic with 25 points. She was on fire early, canning five three-pointers in the first quarter. Lia St. Pierre had 21, Allie Berry 20 and dominant in the paint and Kelly Vass ripped 15.
Jasmine Parent’s 17 paced the Hornets. Hannah Brown and Jayla Verney scored 14 apiece.
