It’s a busy week waiting for the Maritime Women’s Basketball Association teams.
Eight games in total will unfold with two mid-week tilts and six on the weekend as all six teams are in Halifax.
With that in mind, through three weeks of play, it’s your update on scoring leaders in the MWBA.
Leonie Elbert of the Moncton Mystics continues to lead the league’s scoring derby with 19.0 points per game.
Elbert has company.
Karissa Kajorinne of the Halifax Thunder, last year’s scoring champion, has 17.4 points per outing.
Both players have played five games.
Kaylee Kilpatrick of the Port City Fog of Saint John is third with 16.8 per game and Lia St. Pierre of Moncton is fourth at 14.8. A shade behind St. Pierre are teammates Katie Butts and Kylee Speedy of the Fredericton Freeze at 14.6.
Hannah Brown of the Halifax Hornets is seventh at 14.5 and teammate Jasmine Parent is at 14.3. Allie McCarthy of the Freeze is ninth at 14.0 and Port City’s MacKenzee Ryan is 10th at 13.5.
The hottest team in the league is the undefeated Halifax Thunder at 6-0, alone in top spot.
Fredericton sits second at 4-2 for eight points and the Fog is third at 3-2 for six points.
Moncton (2-3) and the Hornets (2-4) are tied for fourth and Windsor Edge is 0-6.
League play resumes Wednesday in Halifax when the Hornets host the Thunder at 7 p.m. at Mount St. Vincent University.
Port City hosts Moncton on Thursday, a 7 p.m. tip off at University of New Brunswick at Saint John.
The six teams arrive at Saint Mary’s University in Halifax for weekend tournament session play Saturday and Sunday.
The lid-lifter has the Hornets and Port City at 3 p.m. followed by Windsor and Fredericton at 5 p.m. The nightcap at 7 p.m. pits Thunder against Moncton.
Fredericton and the Hornets kick things off Sunday at 11 a.m. followed by Windsor and Moncton at 1 p.m.
Fog plays Thunder in the 3 p.m. outing.
