Eva Widmeyer will wear new colours at the Atlantic University Sport level.
Widmeyer, who played the 2023 Maritime Women’s Basketball Association season with the Halifax Hornets, has joined the Dalhousie University Tigers in Halifax.
Head coach Tanya McKay made the announcement on Widmeyer, a transfer from AUS rival Acadia University Axewomen.
She will enter the public administration post-graduate program at Dalhousie.
The guard earned 134 points and 73 rebounds with Acadia, winning an AUS title in 2021-22.
Widmeyer is a two time Academic All-Canadian at Acadia.
“We are very excited that Eva will be joining our program this year,” McKay told Dalhousie athletics. “She will bring a high level of play and experience to our team. After playing for the Halifax Hornets in the Maritime Women’s Basketball Association this spring, we expect her to have an immediate impact on our program.”
Widmeyer averaged 5.4 points per game for the Hornets during her first MWBA season.
She was part of a bronze medal winning team for the Halifax program.
The Tigers return to the court Oct. 27 when they host the Cape Breton Capers in their 2023-24 home opener.
