Lori Wall has switched gears.
But she’s still in fifth gear when it comes to basketball.
After a lengthy and impressive career as a teacher and principal in the Saint John region, Wall retired, capping an eventful and rewarding career at Saint John High School.
She has some extra time and is putting it to good use, golfing in the summer – and golfing a lot! – and even returning to coaching basketball when she returned the sidelines with a Saint John middle school.
Wall is a long-time coach, administrator and present-day president of Basketball New Brunswick, is adding another chapter to her book.
The Saint John native has been elected secretary of the Maritime Women’s Basketball Association.
She replaces Fredericton’s Cindy Levesque, who thrived in the role for three years.
Wall joins commissioner Jen McKenzie of Dartmouth, vice commissioner Anna Lee LeBlanc of Moncton and Saint John’s Jeff White as treasurer. Wall and White worked together for years with BNB and also in the coaching fraternity at Saint John High School with the Greyhounds’ programs.
‘We were thrilled when Lori’s name came up and all six teams jumped at the chance to vote her in and benefit from all the experience she has,’ said Lloyd. ‘She is a tremendous asset to any organization she joins. Lori has an impressive arrays of skills from management to organization to conflict resolution. She completes our executive in many ways.’
Wall is certainly familiar with the MWBA.
She has worked with Saint John’s Port City Fog as a game day coordinator and also works the scoring table for off court officials.
Wall also has coached at three Canada Summer Games and has worked professional off court tables for Saint John teams in leagues such as the National Basketball League of Canada.
‘I am truly pleased to be joining the MWBA,’ said Wall. ‘The league continues to showcase female basketball in the Maritimes. It’s a great organization to join and help it grow.’
The MWBA will open its third season of play in May, 2024.
