Port City Fog of Saint John left St. Stephen with a win under its belt Sunday, downing Miramichi Her-icanes in the consolation game of the McDonald’s Battle at the Border.
The Fog withstood an early Miramichi outburst to come back and win, 80-65.
The Her-icanes had a 27-20 lead after 10 minutes before Port City outscored the Maritime Women’s Basketball Association’s newest team, 24-2 in the second quarter to turn the tide.
Mackenzee Ryan scored 18 to lead the Fog. Kaylee Kilpatrick and Erin Ingalls both had 14.
Lauren Rainford’s 14 powered Miramichi. Devon Lawlor had 10.
The same two teams meet next Saturday to open the MWBA regular season.
