The Lake City 56ers made their Maritime Women’s Basketball Association debut over the weekend and came away with a split in two hotly-contested games.
A big part of those hard-earned two points in the standings came compliments of Elizabeth Iseyemi.
For her efforts, Iseyemi has been named the MWBA’s first in the first Player of the Week Presented by Royale.
The former standout with Acadia University Axewomen had a game-high 24 points in Lake City’s 67-62 road win over Halifax Hornets. Iseyemi cashed 13 in a tough 72-70 opening day loss to Halifax Thunder on Saturday.
Other players nominated for the award included Justine Colley-Leger of the Thunder, Bailey Russell of Fredericton Freeze, Lindsay Black from Moncton Mystics, Lauren Rainford of Miramichi Her-Icanes, Port City Fog’s Courtney Donaldson and Jasmine Parent from the Hornets.
Royale is a proud founding partner of the MWBA.
