Port City Drops Fredericton

Port City Fog had a chance to draw even with its guest Thursday.

Consider that mission accomplished.

Hometown Port City jumped into a 37-32 halftime lead and dominated the third quarter, holding off a late Fredericton Freeze rally to post a 63-55 Maritime Women’s Basketball Association win, a key triumph at home in Saint John.

Port City moved to 3-2 and into a third place tie in the league standings with Fredericton, which fell for the second straight game and sits 3-3-3.

A troika of veterans paved the way for the Fog in a game played at University of New Brunswick at Saint John.

Courtney Thompson drilled 19 points, many from inside. Rachel Farwell drained 15 and Kaylee Kilpatrick dropped 10. McKinley Bezanson meshed eight.

Allie McCarthy paced the Freeze with 16 points. Robbi Daley and Eva Tumwine both had 11.
