For the second consecutive winter, the Fredericton Freeze is reaching out to its community of supporters for…support.
The Maritime Women’s Basketball Association launched its $50 From 100 campaign, designed to raise operating funds for the 2025 season.
Freeze is hoping 100 community businesses or individuals can donate $50 to the fundraising initiative.
Each donation includes a single season ticket to the Freeze regular season games which opens in May.
‘Each year, costs continue to go up whether it’s for transportation, accommodations or gymnasium rentals,’ said Freeze general manager, Brad Janes. ‘We are incredibly fortunate to have a crew of local businesses work as partners with the Freeze whether it’s financial or in-kind measures. We appreciate that support in so many ways.’
Last year, the Freeze operated a $100 From 100 campaign.
It fell short if its goal, but that wasn’t the impetus behind the idea.
‘We understand the economy and the challenges we’re all faced with whether it’s keeping Open signs on or feeding families which is priority,’ said Janes. ‘We reduced the potential monetary donation for 2025. If we don’t meet our goal, that’s absolutely okay, but every dollar that comes in goes into operating costs to help create sustainability moving forward.’

All names will be added to a season ticket list. Those tickets will be available at the first home, expected to be the first full weekend of May once the MWBA announces its 2025 schedule.
