Freeze Talent Secures Nod

Quite a night.

Which has meant Bailey Russell of the Fredericton Freeze is the Royale Player of the Week Award winner for the Maritime Women’s Basketball Association’s fifth and final regular season week.

Russell was instrumental in a big come-from-behind win over the hometown Port City Fog of Saint John last Saturday night.

The second year wing  played just under 35 minutes and was a plus 30 in Fredericton’s win. Russell had 22 points, six assists, 14 rebounds and four steals.

Other players considered for the award were Mali Straker of Port City, Alaina McMillan of Halifax Thunder, Addie Albert of Moncton Mystics, Grace Lancaster from Miramichi Her-Icanes, Chloe Oxner of Halifax Hornets and NyKeva Brown of Lake City 56ers of Dartmouth/Cole Harbour.

Royale is a founding partner of the MWBA, with the league since 2022.
