MWBA - Maritime Womens Basketball Association

Parent Setting Hornets’ Pace

It’s the off-season, a time for reflection, how we got here and where the Maritime Women’s Basketball Association is going.

The MWBA is preparing for its fifth season in 2026, a remarkable feat as the league continues to produce outstanding basketball and gain even more of a following.

With that in mind, we’re going to cover all seven MWBA teams from a scoring point of view and let you know the all-time leaders in point production for the squads.

First off the mat are the Halifax Hornets.

The Hornets won the PRO•LINE Legacy Cup championship back in 2022 and have weaved a number of memorable players throughout its lineup.

The one constant has been Jasmime Parent, an original Hornet.

Parent is the all-time leading scorer in a Hornets’ uniform, amassing 333 points over her four seasons.

Hannah Brown, the former European professional who spent two seasons with Halifax, is second all-time with 196 points for the Hornets.

Alisha McNeil sits third with 152, followed closely by Amanda Pearcey’s 151. Pearcey was a second-team MWBA all-star in 2024.

Courtney Donaldson, now with Dartmouth/Cole Harbour’s Lake City 56ers, had productive seasons with the Hornets and sits fifth in the franchise with 121 points. Jayla Verney is sixth at 111, Eva Widmeyer seventh with 109 and Chanel Smith eighth with 103 are next in line.

Sitting ninth is Melina Collins and her 100 points while Toni Biancini rounds out the all-time Hornets’ Top 10 with 96 points.

Parent is the all-time leader in games played with 39.
