The Halifax Thunder has two PROLINE Legacy Cup championships under its belt.
A staple of the Maritime Women’s Basketball Association since league inception in 2022, the Thunder has pencilled in a number of standout players during its four-year history.
When it comes to production, Kiera Duffie leads the way as Thunder’s all-time leading point-getter.
Duffie has amassed 250 points in 29 career regular season games.
Alaina McMillan sits second with 232 points – she has a career number of 319 including one season with Halifax Hornets – and Sami Russell climbed to third spot with 197 points.
Sandy Saunders is nestled into fourth place with 191 points and Haley McDonald is fifth with 189. McDonald was the league’s first MVP. She is now the head coach of Basketball Nova Scotia’s under-17 girls’ team which will compete at the Canada Summer Games in St. John’s, NL, next month.
Justine Colley-Leger is sixth with 156 points and Karissa Kajorinne next at 154. Kajorinne appeared in 19 Halifax games and her average of 21.0 points per game is still the team standard.
Karla Yepez, now head coach of Thunder rival Halifax Hornets, is eighth with 141 points and Sophie Atkinson ninth with 135. Grace Wade rounds out the top 10 with 133 points.
