MWBA - Maritime Womens Basketball Association

Featuring Freeze Point-Getters

She has been a Fredericton Freeze staple since the day the Maritime Women’s Basketball Association opened its doors in 2022.

And as the league prepares for Season V celebrations in 2026, Eva Tumwine enters the off-season as the all-time leading scorer in Freeze history.

The former University of New Brunswick Reds talent has amassed 351 MWBA points and is coming off arguably her best season in 2025, where she dominated in the paint. She was named a second-team league all-star for her season efforts.

Allie McCarthy sits second all-time in scoring with 321 points and her fellow University of Ottawa Gee Gees’ teammate, Bailey Russell, is third with 287.

McCarthy was a second team all-star and Russell a first-team all star this past season in the MWBA.

McCarthy and Russell are known as the Splash Sisters for their shooting prowess with Ottawa.

Katie Daley sits fourth with 248 points and older sister Robbi Daley is fifth with 217.

Katie McAffee, who has returned to New Brunswick and will play for UNB in 2025-26, rounds out the Freeze top five with 200 points.

Katie Butts earned 197 points with the Freeze in sixth spot and Kylee Speedy, battling to return from injury, has 166 points in only 10 games played. Speedy holds the all-time Freeze single game points record with 32 established in 2023.

Nicole Esson, who played for Fredericton in its inaugural season and returned this past year, has 162 points for eighth place. A pair of players who toiled in Year I round out the Freeze Top 10 including Emily MacLeod’s 86 points and Grace Simpson’s 77.
