With head coach and former MWBA standout Haley McDonald as head coach, the Bluenose Province earned a bronze medal on the weekend in St. John’s, NL.
Nova Scotia defeated Basketball British Columbia, 74-45 to mine bronze.
McDonald played in the MWBA in its inaugural 2022 season with the Halifax Thunder. Maia Timmins, an assistant MWBA coach with the Halifax Hornets, held a similar role with BNS.
Basketball Alberta capped a remarkable tournament, clipping Basketball Ontario, 62-45 in the gold medal game.
Basketball New Brunswick earned a quarter-final berth, but would finish eighth following a 75-56 setback to Basketball Prince Edward Island to cap the event.
Alberta earned gold on the boys’ side with a 72-69 win over Ontario.
New Brunswick fell 83-59 to Saskatchewan in consolation play and Nova Scotia lost 95-90 to Manitoba.
