It’s been a dizzying couple of weeks for the Maritime Women’s Basketball Association.

Expect the ride to continue today and Sunday in Halifax.

Nova Scotia’s capital city gets its first look at all six MWBA teams as action unfolds at Mount St. Vincent University with inter-provincial play taking centre stage.

It is the second time the MWBA has operated a six-team, six game format following opening weekend in Fredericton earlier this month.

Single games have been played to promote provincial rivalries through the week and the attendance numbers have swelled in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.

Expect more of the same this weekend.

The fun begins at 3 p.m. on Saturday when Windsor Edge faces the Moncton Mystics followed by the host Halifax Hornets tangling with Port City Fog of Saint John at 5 p.m. The nightcap has Fredericton Freeze playing Halifax Thunder.

On Sunday, action begins at 11 a.m, when the Fog meets Windsor followed by the Hornets and Fredericton at 1 p.m. The weekend capper has Thunder playing Moncton.

Thunder comes into the weekend with a perfect 4-0 record atop the standings and eight points. The Hornets and Freeze are tied for second spot with 2-1 marks and four points and Edge sits tied for fourth with Port City with two points apiece. Windsor comes in at 1-2 and the Fog is 1-3. Moncton is on the hunt for its first win at 0-3.

A reminder to all fans attending the games this weekend that masks are mandatory when entering and exiting Mount St. Vincent. Masks are optional inside the gymnasium,

Parking could be a challenge with several other events being hosted by the university, so plan accordingly.

Admission table for cash paying customers is open one hour before the first game each day. The gymnasium seats a maximum of 500.
