Home court, loud, loud crowd.
And it all helped the Moncton Mystics, who earned a dramatic and nail-biting 70-67 win over Windsor Edge to break into the Maritime Women’s Basketball Association win column for the first time this season.
Moncton moved to 1-6 on the year. Windsor fell to 3-4.
The Mystics had been hanging around games all season long, but couldn’t find the formula for a winning recipe.
Moncton did in front of the hometown faithful after falling behind 37-30 at the half. If you to understand how far back the Mystics came, they trailed 21-4 after a quarter before righting the ship.
Jenna Jones took matters into her own hands with a franchise-record 25-point outburst for Moncton. That total included five three-pointers, two of them in the pivotal fourth quarter where the hosts outscored Windsor, 22-13. Abby Miller sunk a dozen, Kelly Vass 11 and Kelsey McLaughlin 10 to support Jones.
The MWBA’s leading scorer, Karissa Kajorinne, drilled 22 for the Edge. Tiffany Reynolds had 15 and Anna Von Maltzahn had nine.
