The Maritime Women’s Basketball Association Legacy Cup is down to four teams.

Port City Fog of Saint John punched its ticket to Saturday’s semifinal following a 90-68 win over the Windsor Edge.

The six-team championship is being played at TD Station in Saint John.

The host team gave the home fans plenty to cheer about Friday night, despite a test from plucky Windsor, which finished a difficult season without a win in 11 outings.

Port City’s win sets up an all-New Brunswick semifinal.

Fog faces the Fredericton Freeze at 7 p.m. for the right to advance to the final.

The other semifinal pits regular season and undefeated Halifax Thunder (10-0) against city rival Halifax Hornets.

That game is set for 5 p.m,

Hornets advanced Friday with a quarter-final with a 98-87 win over Moncton Mystics.

Port City started fast, but full marks to the Edge which hung tough including going on an 11-5 third quarter run to make the game close, trailing 48-39 midway through the frame.

Mackenzee Ryan powered Port City with a 20-point effort. Kaylee Kilpatrick, the league’s regular season scoring champion, had 17 points. Reese Baxendale and Jessica Keripe had 10 each.

Nalini Maharaj pumped 17 for Edge. Isa MacKay and Kate Gallant had 11 apiece.

Fog didn’t wilt, but the Edge missed some inside buckets and Port City found its range down the stretch to put the game away about four minutes into the fourth period.

Windsor will now face Moncton in Saturday’s 11 a.m. semifinal.
