If you’re a basketball fan, you’re going to want to be in St. Stephen, NB, April 27-28.

The Charlotte County town is a haven for basketball and has been for years.

That reputation will continue with the Battle at the Border – Presented by McDonald’s – as four New Brunswick-based Maritime Women’s Basketball Association teams battle for the World’s Oldest Basketball Court Cup.

All the action will take place at St. Stephen High School.

There will also be a youth component to the weekend with Basketball New Brunswick girls’ teams playing two games prior to the MWBA games on April 27 and at least eight provincial girls’ team will play at St. Stephen Middle School.

The MWBA teams are Fredericton Freeze, Miramichi Her-icanes, Moncton Mystics and Port City Fog of Saint John.

She is Active NB will also be on hand April 27 to promote activity and physical literacy for youth attending the games. She is Active NB will also award player of the games for all teams from youth to the MWBA.

‘We are incredibly grateful to so many people on the ground in St. Stephen who have done so much in creating what should be an amazing weekend,’ said MWBA commissioner, Jen McKenzie of Dartmouth, NS. ‘Tom Liston and his World’s Oldest Basketball Court team has been absolutely amazing. Volunteers are stepping up in a big way. Our teams and our players are going to be amazed.’

There will also be a mayor’s social on Saturday night at the Garcelon Civic Centre. Mayor Allan MacEachern will be on hand to welcome the teams.

The action will start April 27 when Fredericton Fusion and Fog Junior Academy play the first of two back-to-back games in under-14 girls’ games.

Moncton then faces Port City at 1:30 p.m. before the Freeze and Miramichi tangle at 3:30 p.m.

The winners advance directly to the 1:30 p.m. final on April 28. The consolation game is set for 11:30 a.m.

Tickets are $5 across the board for each MWBA game or a weekend pass will be available for $15. Children under-14 are admitted free of charge.
