So, the word buzzing around the Maritime Women’s Basketball Association has been parity.

Absolutely right.

The MWBA had yet another white-knuckle post-season elimination game Thursday night to decide who the fourth and final team was going to be to advance to this weekend’s Pro*Line Stadium Legacy Cup championship.

That final team is the Lake City 56ers of Dartmouth/Cole Harbour.

And the 56ers did it the hard way.

Lake City wiped out a 16-point second half deficit and went on to post a dramatic 59-53 win over the Halifax Hornets.

Don’t let the low score fool you. This one was fascinating in front of a big crowd at the Zatzman Sportsplex Gymnasium in Dartmouth.

Lake City now joins Halifax Thunder, Fredericton Freeze and Saint John’s Port City Fog in the Pro*Line Stadium Legacy Cup final this weekend at Dalhousie University in Halifax.

Here’s how the semifinals set up Saturday.

Regular season champion Thunder face the Fog at 5:30 p.m.

Lake City will meet Fredericton at 7:30 p.m.

The winners meet in Sunday’s 2:30 p.m. final. The third place game is set for 12:30 p.m.

To join the others, Lake City had to go deep into the comeback well, trailing by nine at the half and falling down even more at home.

Cue the comeback.

The 56ers trailed 48-39 entering the fourth quarter, but had a 20-5 fourth quarter edge to punch their ticket.

Courtney Donaldson tallied 17 points for Lake City. Elizabeth Iseyemi had 10.

Hannah Brown’s 14 sparked Halifax. Jasmine Parent scored 11.

– Lake City’s Courtney Donaldson sparked a major playoff comeback.
