The Maritime Women’s Basketball Association is certainly kicking off 2026 on a positive note.

As the league prepares to enter its fifth anniversary season in May, the MWBA is thrilled to announce Atlantic Lottery’s PRO•LINE is joining the eight-team circuit as presenting partner for 2026.

Teams battled for the PRO•LINE Legacy Cup championship last June in Fredericton with the Miramichi Her-Icanes becoming New Brunswick’s first team to win the title after the crown was held in Nova Scotia the the previous three seasons.

‘At a time when finding financial partnerships can be a challenge, we are delighted Atlantic Lottery and its PRO•LINE brand is returning and showing faith in our communities and our league,’ said MWBA commissioner, Jen Lloyd of Dartmouth. ‘That’s what excites all of us. The belief and power of women in sport from a company such as Atlantic Lottery’s PRO•LINE is remarkable.’

This year’s PRO•LINE Legacy Cup Final Four will be held in Nova Scotia the third weekend of June.

The league alternates each season between the two provinces.

Discussions are being held now on a site for the championship in June.

‘Atlantic Lottery’s PRO•LINE is thrilled to partner with the Maritime Women’s Basketball Association again this year as presenting sponsor of its 2026 season,’ said Scott Eagles, director of sports betting at Atlantic Lottery. ‘It’s been incredible to witness the MWBA grow and we’re proud of the impact it continues to have, advancing opportunity for women in sport across our region.’

The MWBA will open its fifth season the first week of May.

The league has grown since last season, adding the expansion Truro Tidal Queens to the fold, playing out of the Nova Scotia Division with Lake City 56ers of Dartmouth/Cole Harbour/Preston, Halifax Hornets and Halifax Thunder. Miramichi plays out of the New Brunswick Division with Fredericton Freeze, Moncton Mystics and Saint John’s Port City Fog.

The MWBA plays a 10-game regular season.

There will be semifinal playoff action in each division with two teams from both provinces advancing to PRO•LINE  championship weekend.
