It’s her final season of playing collegiate basketball.

And Vanessa Soffee is making the most of it.

Soffee, who starred with Fredericton’s St. Thomas University Tommies for four seasons, is capping her final year of eligibility with Ontario Collegiate Athletic Association’s Mohawk College Mountaineers of Hamilton this season.

Mohawk is the No. 1 ranked team atop the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association.

The Mountaineers are coming off a 78-44 win over Kitchener’s Conestoga College Condors on Jan. 28 where Soffee had four points and five assists, starting the game for Mohawk.

Soffee, who player her first year in the Maritime Women’s Basketball Association last year with the Fredericton Freeze, has continued her uptempo play with Mohawk.

She averages 22.1 minutes per game for the 13-0 Mountaineers. She is sixth in the league with 47 assists and second in the circuit, flashing her quick hands with 44 steals. Soffee brings 5.1 points per game.

With the Freeze, Soffee averaged just over 15 minutes per game and had 5.3 points per out, averaging 1.3 assists.

The Mountaineers put their perfect record on the line Saturday, hosting Humber College Hawks of Toronto.
