One of the top Maritime players is returning to the Maritime Women’s Basketball Association.
Clara Gascoigne, who played during the MWBA’s inaugural 2022 season, is going to be wearing the colours of the Halifax Hornets once again this season.
‘Saying we are excited to have Clara back would be an understatement,’ the Hornets said in a release. ‘She has one of the most decorated resumes in USPORTS women’s basketball history.’
 True story.
Gascoigne played five seasons with the Saint Mary’s University Huskies, who had a remarkable multiple championship run at the Atlantic University Sport level.
The six-foot guard out of Dartmouth was a five-time USPORTS Academic All-Canadian.
Adding to that, Gascoigne was an AUS MVP, three time defensive player of the year, AUS championship MVP and USPORTS defensive player of the year.
Add to that, three AUS defensive player of the year awards.
The Hornets have signed a number of Gascoigne’s former Saint Mary’s teammates as the organization aims for its second MWBA Legacy Cup title, won during that memorable 2022 campaign.
