The Maritime Women’s Basketball Association has a new partner on board.

Wonder Auto & Tire will be the recognizing the MWBA Player of the Week award.

The league recognizes an outstanding player each week of the MWBA season. The award is usually announced on Tuesday morning, depending on the schedule makeup.

For more than 40 years, Wonder Auto & Tire has been the region’s trusted choice for full-service automotive care. Serving Saint John Fredericton, Oromocto, Riverview and Moncton in New Brunswick along with Nova Scotia dealerships in New Glasgow and Halifax, it provides everything your vehicle needs — from routine maintenance to advanced diagnostics and major repairs.

At Wonder Auto & Tire, certified technicians handle it all: tires, brakes, alignments, suspension, exhaust, electrical, inspections, maintenance, and more.

The MWBA opens its fifth season on May 2 with three games and three more on May 3.

Moncton Mystics venture into Nova Scotia for the weekend, battling Lake City 56ers of Dartmouth/Cole Harbour/Preston. That game is set for 3 p.m. at Cole Harbour High School. At the same time across the two bridges in Halifax, the hometown Thunder welcome expansion Truro Tidal Queens to Halifax Grammar School.

The evening game unfolds at 6 p.m. when hometown Miramichi HerIcanes greet Fredericton Freeze.

That game is set for Miramichi Valley High School.

On May 3, Moncton visits Halifax Hornets at 2:30 p.m. at Mount St. Vincent University while Miramichi ventures to the Kennebecasis Valley to face the Port City Fog at 2:30 p.m. That game is set for Rothesay High School.

At 3 p.m., Thunder visits Lake City at CHHS.
