The Moncton Mystics earned an impressive win Friday night on the road.

Now, the Mystics get to sit back and watch the rest of the league battle it out with a bevy of games including three on Saturday and a trio more Sunday.

The Maritime Women’s Basketball Association has officially entered Week II and there are key matchups waiting to unfold.

The marquee matchup today is also the PRO·LINE Featured Game of the Week in the Nova Scotia capital when two city rivals square off.

Host Halifax Thunder (2-0) entertain Halifax Hornets (1-0) with a pair of high-octane offences ready to match wits and skillsets against each other.

Game time is 5 p.m., at Halifax Grammar School.

Two hours prior, Lake City 56ers of Dartmouth/Cole Harbour/Preston collide with the Truro Tidal Queens (0-1).

That game at 3 p.m., is at Cole Harbour High School.

The nightcap is in New Brunswick on the Mighty Miramichi.

Hometown HerIcanes (1-1) welcome Port City Fog of Saint John (1-1) at 6 p.m. at Miramichi Valley High School.

Port City, which fell to Moncton at home Friday night, defeated Miramichi last weekend.

The hectic weekend continues Sunday with three tilts to celebrate Mother’s Day.

The long-awaited home debut of the expansion Tidal Queens unfolds at noon at Dal Agricultural College.

An hour later, Fredericton Freeze (0-1) marks its home debut, facing Miramichi at Lady Beaverbrook Gymnasium at 1 p.m.

Thunder then entertains Lake City at 3 p.m, at Halifax Grammar.

Miramichi’s game is on Facebook Live and the Freeze can be streamed at www.ao.live ($8.99 plus taxes).
