The Halifax Thunder touched New Brunswick soil for the first time this Maritime Women’s Basketball Association season.

It was a battle, but Thunder remained undefeated on the season, pushing its mark to 5-0 with a hard-fought battle over the Moncton Mystics at Crandall University.

Halifax earned an 85-79 decision.

Kali Grootenboer and Elizabeth Beals-Iseyemi sparked the Thunder attack with 17 points apiece. Haley McDonald scored 13 points for Halifax, all in the first half.

Thunder remains the only undefeated team in the circuit.

Moncton fell to 4-2.

The Mystics’ youth brigade paved the way offensively once again for the Mystics.

Maddie Eustace paced all scorers with a 25-point afternoon. Eve Kalala knocked down 17.

Halifax continues its NB swing on Sunday, facing Miramichi HerIcanes at 1 p.m. at Miramichi Valley High School.

Moncton remains home, welcoming Truro Tidal Queens to Crandall for a 3 p.m., clash.
